This Grosvenor Plate 40-piece boxed cutlery set dates to around the 1950s and was manufactured and guaranteed by Mytton’s Ltd, 113 York Street, South Melbourne, Australia. The set is in the Old English pattern and includes spoons and forks made from high-quality nickel silver, electro-plated with a heavy deposit of pure silver and originally guaranteed for 20 years of normal domestic use. The three serving spoons have a slightly different handle pattern, as was often the case with mixed serving pieces supplied in boxed sets. It is a substantial and practical mid-century table setting with strong Australian provenance, priced at $295 in store and $315 online because of extra postage costs.
