A beautiful Donald Simpson brooch, featuring a collection of cultured pearls. This piece was crafted by the Australian designer in the 1950’s, who created iconic costume jewellery. The total length of this item is 68mm. Cultured pearls, unlike natural pearls, require the help of pearl-farmers to begin the process of formation. This means cultured pearls have the same quality of a natural pearl, but at a lesser price. They were first created by a Japanese entrepreneur, Kokichi Mikimoto, in the 1800’s.
